He was drinking a hot cup of coffee on a warm summer evening, dressed in camouflage shorts, suspenders, a tie dyed shirt, and sported a big white beard. He had to be interesting, right? "I'm just a regular old guy in Missoula, on a regular old day in Missoula," he told me. He has lived here 44 years. "A lot of journalism students approach me when I'm on campus. I do know one thing. Being truthful goes a very long way."

When I asked why he liked working there he looked at me like I should already know and said, "Because it's fun," and continued service. True enough. I soon left the hard working man of very few words alone so he could do his job.

Missoula Rabble, Martin McCain is visiting Missoula from Austin, TX. He moved there a year ago and is back this week for a reunion show with the Wartime Blues on Saturday. He is still a woodworker and riding through town on his bicycle. "You want to take a picture of this goon?" he says, referring to himself. You were once a famous man here, Martin. Of course we want a picture of you.
